I'll give it a 4/5 because it seems like you could definitely go somewhere with this in the future. It has a great premise, it just wasn't executed too well, but everyone starts somewhere.

Keep on improving! You clearly enjoy making music, just keep on making it.

I do indeed enjoy making music and i strive to improve :D

This song was awesome! You have a definite groove with this. I might add more harmony or bass or something to make it feel more complete but this was great regardless.

JQiscool responds:

Thanks!
I knew youd like it :)

This is really good. I don't really understand why it's rated less than 4.

It's very simple at parts and that's the only aspect I might change, but it seems like it was deliberate so I'm not counting off. I actually liked that aspect of this.

JQiscool responds:

Thanks :P

There are some excellent concepts in this. Keep on improving and putting out tracks! You've gotten a ton better since I last listened to your music.

JQiscool responds:

Haha thanks. You have been gone for a while, and I've been working!
:)
Thanks

For what it is, this is very funky. This is definitely somewhere between Ambient and Techno. This would make an outstanding menu track for a flash game. Hopefully more people realize that and use it!

Great job

JQiscool responds:

Thanks :P
I kinda tryed to make it sound video game worthy, but it wasn't totally my aim. Thanks so much for reviewing!

Hey man, where can I get those synths? Great job with this song!

DjClyme responds:

Glad you liked it!

The synths I used are as follows:

Nexus - I used this for the bitcrushed piano, bass, mid-bass, lead, Kick, Snare, Ride, and the vocal synth.

3xOSC - this amazing little synth was used to create the 8-bit cube sound, the whistling sound, and the sound that comes in and 1:37

Vanguard - i used this for the pluck at 2:29 and for the modulated bass that comes in at the same time as well.

Sytrus - i used this synth more or less as a pluck. it can be heard at 1:02

hope this helps some!

thanks for the comment.

Awesome song, TroisNyx. Very heartfelt.

Troisnyx responds:

Thank you!

This is really good. I...

Well ok I can't possibly put into words how much I wish I could do this lol. Great job, man.

This is AMAZING.

What synths did you use exactly? Are the presets in 10 or can I find them somewhere? Thanks!

Troisnyx responds:

The VST is in 10 (Fruity Soundfont Player), the soundfonts, no. I had a few--

Piano: Akai Steinway (this can be found in the 800+ soundfont thread on the Audio Forums).
Solo strings and sparklies: Touhou soundfonts. Now there are two, one solely for drums and percussion, and the other for all instrument banks.
Backing strings: There's a SF which HFX shared with me, known as Squidfont.

Now I would like to pass you what I have, and I'm not sure how to....

This is excellent. Honestly, this is my favorite Newgrounds submission of 2012. What did you use to make this?

Troisnyx responds:

The whole thing was on FL Studio 10, but I'll list the stuff that I used down here:

- As far as instrumental plugins go, the only one I have EVER used is Fruity Soundfont Player. I can't afford anything else D: Many of the soundfonts I got over here on NG, and there is one which HFX has shared with me, but the electronica soundfont (the one which gives you the beeps at the recapitulation section) was from the Mario Paint community.

To my knowledge, there's a page with 800+ soundfonts over at the Audio Forums. If you haven't checked it out already, PM me and I will pass you the link.

- Volume and tempo envelopes, quite a few of them. A little bit of mouse-click humanisation, which can be quite painful.

- Fruity Reeverb and the standard panning function on the mixer. I didn't even take care to use Parametric EQ 2 because I didn't know about it at the time I did this.

- Raw passion.

Admittedly, that's it. o.O I'll readily admit that I haven't got much, but if this is what it is capable of doing, I must learn to stretch the limits.
